Truffles is the lighter one...
And Button is the darker one. They are both wethers and have been fast friends their whole lives.
Babydoll sheep are a miniature breed of sheep known for the sweet natures, and adorable teddy bear faces.
Why do we have sheep, you ask? Jacqueline was on the lookout for a mini horse to be a companion animal to another mini a friend has when she came across a breeder who also bred these sheep. That was it, Jacqueline was hooked. No, we are not going into the sheep breeding business, but when she came across these two boys from a petting zoo that needed homes, she jumped.
Jacqueline adores her little boys and named them for two types of mushrooms to carry with her "Toadstool" theme. And you should have seen us shearing them this Spring! What a new adventure that was! It wasn't the prettiest shear job ever, but at least the boys are comfortable in the California Summer heat.
On the day they arrived, both of the boys wandered right away over to our little statue of St. Francis ( Patron saint of animals) and had to say hello before they'd settle down to graze. Jacqueline knew, seeing that, that she'd done a good thing bringing these little guys to Toadstool Farm. They've been a part of our home and our hearts ever since.
They never did make it to her friend's barn to meet the mini!
