Ballinasloe Horse Fair

In early October, 2003, Jacqueline packed her bags, steeled her nerves ( she hates flying) and made her way from Southern California to Ballinasloe, Ireland. Staying with friends and partners, the Cash's, in County Laois, she spent hours every day looking at any and every Gypsy Cob she could find. Ireland was not unfamiliar to Jacqueline, she having lived there off and on for several years in the early 1990's. With this in mind, Jacqueline understands the vast culture differences between the country of her birth and the country of the Cob's birth. This puts her in a unique positon of being able to translate to others exactly why the Irish do the things they do, for instance, the whole "what-are-their-pedigrees-and-what-do-you-mean-no-one-knows-or-cares?" issue...In order to give you, our guests, a glimpse into what life is really like for these horses and where they come from, the following is a photo journal of the trip.

(All photos on this page by Jacqueline--with the exception of course, of those few taken of her.)
