The castle slept, all but one, and that one hurried quietly through the stone passages to the stables. Her beloved black horse was not surprised to be woken and led beyond the castle walls. He had grown used to these midnight rides. Only an old owl, hunting in the moonlight saw them as they rode past the village and fields and into the deepest part of the woods.
There, in a clearing, was the cottage, with it's thatched roof, covered in the flowers that always seemed to grow here, no matter the season, and a wisp of smoke breathing from the chimney. The Princess knew she was expected.
The WiseWoman was wrapping a small bundle in muslin as the Princess entered. "I have your things ready for you," she said. "The marigold was especially good this time, and I've added some lavender to help you sleep." The motherly WiseWoman handed her the bundle and give her a warm smile and gentle nudge towards the door. "Go now, before you're missed. Wouldn't do for the Princess to be caught traipsing about in the wee hours of the morning." As she left, the Princess slipped a few coins onto the doorstep. The next morning, as the sun rose, it's golden light glinted off the copper tub in the Princess's chamber, and the small jars sitting peacefully next to it...
Thus is the story behind the birth of Medieval, a line of bath and body luxuries inspired by the ancient wisdom of women throughout the ages. WiseWomen were healers, midwives, counselors and even veterinarians to the Medieval villages. They were the bringers of magic to both the very poor and the nobility. Medieval's appeal comes from it's unique ability to combine the magic and fantasy of the Middle Ages with it's simple, natural wisdom and offer that to a world grown cynical and overcomplicated.
With celebrity clients like country-western/pop singing superstar Shania Twain, who had Medieval FedEx her a package when she needed to relax after coming off a grueling months long tour, Camryn Manheim (TV's, "The Practice"), Lucy Liu ("Ally McBeal"), and Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules"), and seen in such exclusive stores as Fred Segal and Tracey Ross in Los Angeles, Renditions in Texas, and others across the nation, the WiseWoman's and the Princess's story crosses time to recreate itself in the 21st century.
